situational leadership®

The World's Leading Performance Management Model in association with The Learning Architect

The Centre for Leadership Studies remains at the forefront of the development of Situational Leadership® and its related products.

Dr Hersey's research created the Situational Leadership® Model and Centre for Leadership Studies in Escondido, California and its associates around the world continue to develop and teach this renowned model.

Situational Leadership® training is a performance improvement model, geared to increase both team and individual performance, thus the growth of effective leadership.

Situational Leadership® blurs the lines between 'learning and doing'. We have created both training events and application exercises which truly make the Situational Leadership® model come to life.

Our experience teaches us that training must be relevant, easy to understand and realistically applicable. 'We deliver!' The continued success of the Centre for Leadership studies demonstrates just that.

We encourage delegates to:

  • Learn the model and practice with the model on our training session.
  • Use our well-designed training manual back at work.
  • Communicate the model to their colleagues and direct reports.
  • Apply the model using our diagnostic and application tools.
  • Plan their development systematically as Situational Leaders.

How we deliver

Typically our clients engage us to both teach the model and to coach the delegates in the first months of their development as Situational Leaders.

The Programme is delivered as 'The Core', which can be delivered as a one, two or even three-day model.

The 'Core' One-Day Model

This day teaches a basic introduction to Situational Leadership®.

The day includes:

  • Module 1 - Influencing the Performance of Others
  • Module 2 - Assessing the Criteria of Others
  • Module 3 - Leader Behaviour

Delegates receive feedback on their situation style usage using the Lead Self Instrument. They will use and take home the 'Core' Manual which is a comprehensive guide on how to apply and use the Model.

The 'Core' Two-Day Model

This Model includes the content of the one-day model and adds Module 4, The Leader as Catalyst (dealing with regression and development). It also includes the Power Perception sequences.

Delegates receive 360° feedback on their leadership style and power usage and more time is made available for role-play and experimental exercises.

The Model includes:

  • Module 1 - Influencing the Performance of Others
  • Module 2 - Assessing the Criteria of Others
  • Module 3 - Leader Behaviour
  • Module 4 - The Leader as a Catalyst
  • Module 5 - Charting New Courses

The 'Core' Three-Day Model

This Model uses all that is in the two-day model but takes an additional day exploring 'application' in some more detail. This Model also integrates Influence Strategies and the 12 o'clock High sequence which is a very popular grounding in Situational Leadership®.

The three-day model includes:

  • Module 1 - Influencing the Performance of Others
  • Module 2 - Assessing the Criteria of Others
  • Module 3 - Leader Behaviour
  • Module 4 - The Leader as a Catalyst
  • Module 5 - Charting New Courses
  • Module 6 - Influence Strategies
  • Module 7 – 12 o’clock High

Situational Leadership® in the Outdoors

This is an exciting learning experience planned using experiential learning in the outdoors to enhance the learning experience of the delegates.

Typically this is planned around the 360 feedback received for each delegate. This allows us to design unique learning experiences based on the development needs of each individual.

This programme uses the outdoors but is designed to use 'experience' not to test 'machismo'. Situational Leadership® in the outdoors comes highly recommended.

Coaching

Many of our clients ask that we follow up the training with an opportunity for 1 to 1 coaching.

Typically delegates submit an application plan to the tutor and then plan two 40-minute coaching telephone calls at 30 days and 60 days following the training.

Materials and Coaching

Many of our clients wish to become licensed to run The 'Core' in-house. Please contact us should you wish to discuss this or should others wish to purchase materials and books about Situational.
